

TEXAS ALR STATE ADVISOR

Mark Meysembourg was selected in 2021 by Commander Brett Watson to serve as the Texas American Legion Riders Advisor. He is currently a member of American Legion Post 299 in Woodville, Texas. In 2012, he helped start the American Legion Riders Chapter #259 in Weimar with Post 259 - the Tri-County American Legion Riders serving American Legion members in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties. The Tri-County American Legion Riders hosted the 2014 State ALR Rally. In 2015, Tri-County ALR Chapter transferred to Schulenburg Post 143. He also served 6 years as ALR Director - 2 years in Weimar and 4 years in Schulenburg. He also served as commander of the Weimar American Legion Post 259 and served on the Weimar Veterans Memorial Hall Executive Committee for 3 years. He has participated in seven American Legion National Legacy Runs, the American Legion National Centennial Ride with Team Vision in 2020, and the American Legion Pony Express Run in 2020; however, the donations had to be delivered to National due to the cancellation of the National Run because of COVID. He also served as an Advisor for the First Lone Star Legacy Run in 2018, and served as the Committee Chair for the second one in 2019. In 2020 he was selected to Chair the first South-Central Texas Legacy Run which was held in May 2021, and will serve in this role again for the upcoming year.
He retired as a SFC from the US Army in 1998. He’s been married for 38 years and have 3 sons, all of whom currently serve in the military (1 Air Force and 2 Army). He's been an active fmember or 18 years in the American Legion.
State Advisor Role
As the State Advisor, he will serve as a liaison between the ALR Chapters, Posts and the Department of Texas. He will be the main contact for any questions or concerns regarding the formation of any new ALR Chapters, and also serve as a resource and support contact for current Chapters and Posts. One of his main goals this year is to create a better line of communication that keeps all Chapters informed and connected so that everyone can better support each other in our mission.
